Read on to learn more about Tommy’s experience at Coast Inc. in this month’s Corner Chat.

Q: How did you hear about Coast Inc?

A: I attended North Central College, a small college with more students than my high school. I studied sports management there because I've always been passionate about sports. After graduating a bit early in December, I started applying for jobs through LinkedIn and stumbled upon a position at Coast. I had a conversation with Shannon, and I was drawn to the vibrant energy and charisma of everyone I interacted with during the interview process. The youthful atmosphere and the enthusiasm of the team resonated with me. Sales seemed like a natural fit for my personality.

Q: What is it like to work with Coast Inc?

A: It’s a different challenge every day. You never know what the day is going to bring and that's exciting to me. At the same time, I like how it's merit based and the better you do, the more they're going to throw at you. That's led me to being able to start training and interviewing more and taking charge of a team of my own.

It's never stagnant and it never feels like a normal nine-to-five. It always feels like a career and not a job.

Q: How has Coast Inc. helped you achieve your goals?

A: It has helped big time. Just the improvements in my communication skills alone. I never thought I would be able to go out there and talk to business owners and be able to complete deals on the spot. So I think my communication skills, my overall professionalism and building up on business basics like being on time and being ready to take on daily challenges has helped.

The skills that I'm learning, like interviewing and training, are very transferrable to anything that you want to do in life. So it's a great experience.

Q: How does Coast fit your personality?

A: Sales just fits me perfectly, you know? It's all about relationships, and that's a crucial aspect of life, whether it's personal or professional. In this business, it's all about forming connections with people. Once that trust is established, sales naturally follow. Being a people person, I genuinely enjoy talking to others. My natural confidence and charisma align well with my ability to build relationships, making sales an easy fit for me.

As for Coast Inc. being a great fit, it's because it's not your typical nine-to-five job, as I mentioned earlier. Moreover, promotions aren't dependent on waiting for someone to leave or retire. It's all based on merit and your own efforts. You get what you put in, and that's exactly what I want from a job. I strive to be recognized and rewarded for the hard work I put in because I'm always willing to go the extra mile compared to most.

Q: What advice would you give to candidates?

A: My advice would be to apply because no matter what, you’re going to grow so much. In my experience being here for six months, I've learned much more than I have in college, and the experience I've gotten is remarkable. I never would've thought I'd be training others so early in my career, then slowly starting to interview and start managing others.

So, no matter what you do, the experience you're going to get here is exceptional and it's going to translate to any job or to any aspect of life. So I would say apply to Coast Inc.
